Campbell's Onion Burgers?

I am wondering if anyone has the recipe for "onion burgers". It is a classic recipe that was printed on cans of Cambell's soup years ago. The recipe is the consistency of a sloppy joe, and calls for hamburger and 1 can of cream of onion soup. My hubby loves this and I am unable to find the recipe.

Is this it? This is from Cooks.com. No luck checking Campbellskitchen.com

ONION BURGERS

1 1/2 lbs. hamburger, browned & cooked as for sloppy joes
1 can Campbell's onion soup
2 tbsp. flour

Drain grease from hamburger. Add onion soup. Mix and sprinkle flour over or add enough to thicken slightly. Cook a few minutes and serve in buns.

My mom used to make one with cream of mushroom or maybe it was cream of chicken soup. She'd cook up an onion with the hamburger and add the soup and yellow mustard. We always thought it tasted like Krystal hamburgers so it was a real treat when we were kids!!

This is from an old Campbell Cookbook of my mother's:

"Souper Burgers"
1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped celery
1 T shortening
1 can (10-1/2 ounces) condensed onion soup
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. prepared mustard
Dash pepper
6 buns, toasted and buttered

Brown beef with celery in shortening; stir to separate meat particles. Add soup, water, and seasonings. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes or until slightly thickened. Stir now and then. Serve on buns. 6 servings.

Susanne56 submitted recipe is correct.

I have an old "Campbell's Cooking with Soup" cookbook from 1970 and the name of the recipe is

"Onion Burgers."

However, I'd probably omit the shortening. :)

Could someone tell me which onion soup to use? Would it be Campbell's cream of onion or french onion?

Thanks,
Debbie

I know this isn't exactly what you want, but these onion burgers are awesome. You can either serve them with mashed potatoes or on a bun.

At the time that this book was printed, it only lists 40 different kinds of soup. It only says "Onion." French Onion was not even listed.

I would use "cream of."

I've made sloppy joes with hamburger and just cream of mushroom soup...yummy.
