I have a jar of ground ginger which is "old". It has a dark spot at the very bottom of the jar.
What is the shelf life of bottled ground ginger? Thanks for your help.

Kay,go to:stilltasty.com, it contains the shelf life of everything in your kitchen. :)
Toss it. The dark spots can be areas that got damp and could be contaminated with bacteria. Wash jar, rinse with boiling water, turn upside down on a towel.
Go to a health food store or store like Sprouts or Sunflower or any that has spices in bins. Buy some fresh but make sure you jar has dried for a couple of days and is completely dry, no moisture in grooves of cap. Ginger is very inexpensive bought in bulk. Probably a quarter or fifty cents to fill the jar.
Thank you to those who helped me with the ground ginger. I didn't think it was any good.
You're welcome.
