Taking Apart Glued Furniture Joins?

What can I use to de-glue (remove glue) from furniture joints? I would like to restore some dining room cloth fabric covered chairs, including the wood and recovering them.

It should be dry and brittle - try scraping it off with a sharp blade.

check if there is a pin or wedges or a nail keeping your join together as well for what type of glue. remove wedges, pin or nail. if hyde or hoof glue, they with some taping would brake their bond and you can work the joins slowly apart. if that does not work, apply heat with heat gun. watch your surfaces.

PVA glue responses to heat as well but generally can be undone by soaking in water. all methods have their drawbacks there a good join would not need to be taken apart ever again. work with care.
