You can buy the dry erase surface in rolls or sheets. They are usually self adhesive and can be applied easily. You might try that.

My daughter has a dry erase board on her easel and a neighborhood kid put scratches on it. I don't want to buy a new one; is there a way to fill the scratches on the dry erase board?

Here's a site that tells you how the scratches get to be such a pain. Water gets in there and causes the scratch to pop.
These guys have a dry erase paint. I don't know the price, but it can be used even on walls. Hmm. that's interesting.

They also sell dry erase skins to lay over a board, but thrifty they are not.
