You can always give a baby water as long as it's not taking the place of their regular feedings. I always gave my girls water (filtered or bottled-never straight from the tap) from a very early age. If the baby is already drinking juice then they're old enough for water also. Plus if you're baby has a tendency to fall asleep while drinking their bottle, the water will not hurt their teeth like juices, milk or formulas.

That's funny...the nurses gave my now 17yo son water while we were still in the hospital to supplement my beginning breastfeeding.

One web site recommends you not give your baby water until six months. You really should talk to your babys pediatrician about it. Here is a web site with some information:
