I am looking for a particular encyclopedia, circa 1960. I believe it was called the Illustrated World Encyclopedia or something like that. It was a set of about 20 volumes and the defining value of this set was, that in the rear of each volume was an alphabetical synopsis of many classic literary works. I loved reading these as a child and was wondering if anyone knew of the existence of these books. The books were about 6 inches x 10 inches and were a brownish color.

Hm, I'm not sure, but there is someone on here that keeps asking about an old set that they have. Keep looking around on here and you may find out what I'm talking about.

Full set of 15 Illustrated World Encyclopedia. Very nice condition. Stored away, unused for many many years.... As you can view from picture, Book #15 has some sort of certified stamp on it.

Yes, I have the 1958-1959 complete 20 volume set of the ILLUSTRATED WORLD ENCYCLOPEDIA, size 6"x9", reddish-brown covers in excellent condition, Bobley Publishing Corp., with Educational Book Guild abstracts of books at the end of each volume. For example, Vol. 4 "BOL-CAN" contains abstracts of many books: from "BONDS OF INTEREST" thru "CAMILLE".
I have the 1968 set in 20 volumes, with the literature synopsis in the back. I am in Chateauguay, Quebec, Canada.

I have a set of illustrated world encyclopedia books from A to z there's 21 volumes in all the last volume is a study guide volume I do believe and in the back after in volume A there is a page that says literary treasures novels plays poems and other works of most celebrated in historic writers of the English language and all lands and times and it's several pages long but it has Alice in wonderland Amelia American tragedy it everything I mean esop's fables the age of innocence age of reason The front is a white with a brown edge The pages are edged in gold it's by bubbly b o b l e y and when you turn to the front page it says originally prepared and edited by the national lexio graphic arlexico graphic board and it says the staff and the editor it's between 1954 and 1966 and I know that these books have probably been here since No I'm not sure but they've been around for a while but everything that I'm seeing as far as dates and this book are all in the '60s I'm not real keen on exact year that they are but if you'd like to email me that would be great.
