Before I start, let me clarify, I am not an expert at raising children by any means. However, I raised three children, now grown, on my own and since life teaches us a lot of lessons, I have a lot of them to share with others. My children all graduated from High School with clean discipline records and that's something a Mom can be proud of.

I like your article... it's basically how i raised my son but i know so many cases that children were entrap with a pedophile. The children did not know it was ok to not accept it and that they would be believed. No respect is due in these circumstances. 3 of my step kids were victim, and many friends. i think all children should be informed that there are exceptions.
I agree with you 100%. It's difficult to teach respect to teachers and coaches and others in authority because we don't always agree with their methods. But you are right, the children will learn one way or another and it is less expensive, both in terms of money and consequences, if they learn it at home.
This is great! I wish all my students (first graders) had the good parenting you gave your children. Thanks for proving that good parents are still helping kids learn right from wrong.
