Cook the diced onion and garlic in moderately hot fat for 15 minutes; add the next four ingredients and continue cooking for 10 minutes. Add the beaten egg to the milk, stir with the meat into first mixture. Pour into a greased casserole, bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees F until brown. This loaf should be moist, and is serve from the baking dish with a spoon. Serves 6-8.
