I was born and raised in Iowa and my Mother fixed these sandwiches all the time. We used Velvetta cheese most of the time. I have been living in Tennessee for 18 years and I fix them all the time.
Now my grown sons and their families also fix them. These are good kid's fare, but the grown-ups love them too!

My mom used to fix these all the time. She usually used either ground ham or Spam. We called them Gooey Buns. We loved 'em!!
