Add a little of your favorite fabric softener to the pan. This provides fragrence as well as increases the pads ability to absorb water. The more water there is the more air-water contact time. The better the evaporation.
The amount and frequency that you add will depend on your aroma "tastes" and what kind (if any) water replacement proceedures you use.
You can also simply drop in a "Fresh Air Block", available wherever cooler parts are sold. This is an algeacide. Most of the smell in a cooler are simlpy algae.

If you are looking for cover-ups just about any over the counter product will do.
If you want to get rid of the odor, spray the interior of the cooler with OdorXit Concentrate diluted 1 part concentrate to 30 parts water.
This same treatment will work just as well on refrigerators that have been left with food inside and no power as we did after hurricane Katrina.
