You can wear hose or tights the same color as your outfit, with shoes the same color too. If wearing pants, wear sox and shoes the same color. The same color makes them look longer.

I have short, fat legs. All I know to help them look longer is wear the same color shoes as your pants or hose.

Emma, you are a smart woman!

My legs are long, and i STILL want to make them look longer!

Some tricks-

Match your shoe color and your hose color. You are aiming for one, unbroken looking 'line'. Taupe hose or nude hose - I use beige or taupe shoes.

Sometimes ivory hose and ivory pumps (if it's not too 'nurse like') I never, ever wear white shoes of any kind or white hose of any kind and I never wear both at the same time.

By shoes, I only wear one kind - pumps. They would make Hilary Clinton's legs look good. I'm not saying I have perfect legs, though they are long. But pumps look good on any woman. You will see pumps on beauty pagent contestents! That's where I got the idea. They never go out of style and are classy and classic.

As far as leather or fabric - I love fabric the best. It calls attention to that unbroken line again. Sometimes leather is too shiny looking, not patent leather, but too much texture. Fabric works the best. Black fabric is my favorite because I wear a lot of black.

However, if I'm wearing a black dress, it doesn't follow that I may wear black hose and black shoes. Sometimes it's too much. Black hose and black dress and shoes - I use sheer black hose.

Or black dress, nude hose and killer pumps with high heels. A little sheer in between.

Heel size - high as you can stand it. I suffer for long looking legs, Emma. But I still have to walk around at work. So I chose a heel around 2 - 2 1/2" high. A good clue though - choose a pump with a square 'toe box'. This is the part of the show that goes from the bone under your big toe, out to the pinky. This will help a lot as far as comfort goes.

But I have been known to use pointy toed shoes during the day too. Vanity...

Another great look, especially for winter, is opaque black hose with black fabric shoes, worn with a little shorter skirt. Very sexy in a very subdued way.

Skirt length- I am a firm believer that no woman should wear a dress that falls below her knees. Mid knee, ok (I'm 51 and 5' 7"). I never, ever, never, wear long dresses or calf length dresses, skirts. Never. I wear my skirts mid knee. If I do the opaque hose and black fabric shoe, I go just above my knee. Very slimming.

Who has perfect legs? Not even supermodels do. Every woman looks like she 'believes' she has fantastic legs if she wears a shorter skirt. It shows strong confidence and love of your legs.

I tend to keep my pumps pretty basic - an unbroken line. But I do indulge for dressier events.
But if your legs are short, I would keep shoes simple. But if you want to go all out, by all means do! But watch that hose color!

I never, ever wear straight legged jeans or trousers. Never. I wear boot cut or flare. Worn with a black, sexy, high heeled boot. Simple, but dramatic. No studs or silver heels. Simple.

I never, ever wear any jeans or trousers, slacks, etc. with pleats in the front. Never. Only flat front dresses, skirts, jeans, slacks.

I never, ever wear side pockets. Ever. If the dress or skirt comes with side pockets, I usually don't buy the dress. If I have to have the dress, I have the pockets closed and sewn by an alterationist.

I also never wear side pockets in any jeans, pant. I don't even have them sewn up, I just don't buy them.

I never put my hands in the pockets of my jackets or coats either. It calls attention to the hips and I want to look long and unbroken.

Whew! I didn't know I felt so strongly about this subject, Emma! Forgive me going on and on, but I do hope it helps. You go girl. You show off those legs and you will see the attention you will get.

I proved my sister wrong; she is tall, heavy and wouldn't wear skirts. We fought on this subject! Then one day she did and happened to meet a man she had had a few dates with. He literally gave her the once over, head to toe. Exclaimed that she looked great! He actually said to her that she should wear skirts more often! And, he asked her out again!! Do you see this as proof!!! A funny and true story.

Have a great holiday Emma and I hope my tricks work for you!!

Smoochie

This is not a tip for your legs but for your hips and tush. The young women now when wearing two layers, wear a shirt that peeks out of the top layer about an inch and it is usually contrasting fabric. Like a black shirt with a white t-shirt. I know it is the style but it puts a horizontal band around you where most women do not need it. I like to keep in style but not when it is a detriment.

Wear above the knee dress, or blouse and skirts of the same color ,or strife pants with short blouse to make it look you have longer legs. Think tall , and show your short legs anyway.
