My husband and I have started our own family tradition that gets everyone involved. We gather in a circle and one of us starts by telling what we are thankful for, this gives everyone an example of what to do. We go around the circle with everyone saying something. We end with the other partner saying how we welcome everyone into our home and giving their thanks. Even the children can get involved.

Excellent way to remind people of the true meaning of this holiday. Maybe little Janie will say she's thankful for her dollie and Uncle Bud will say he's thankful for his TV... but thankful is thankful. Some responses could be interesting.
We've been doing this for years. The kids know it as "grandma time", especially since I get choked up with gratitude and thanks and happiness. Even the littlest ones say something.
