We use mousetraps to keep squirrels, rabbits and cats from ruining our garden. The noise scares them without hurting them so that they don't return.

I have been useing kitty litter to keep the squirles away it worked till the tomatoes got red
I would like to try the mousetraps
do you know if any squirels have gotton caught in the mouse traps
We have a lot of squirrels here (UK) and they can be a pest if they get in your loft space and gnaw at your electric cables. I would appreciate any advice that gets rid of them - preferably permanantly!
Barn cats feed them in barn they'll run off squirrel off
Please don't use traps in your garden. If the original poster hasn't seen any animal hurt by them, it is always a possibility.
Dried fox or coyote urine, which needs to be reapplied after a time. Planting chives, garlic, or onions will work just as well and will provide protection for your plants all summer. Even human hair sprinkled around the garden works.
I agree with Kodiakstar above. Please don't use these traps, especially now when there are so many baby birds in our gardens, finding their way around and investigating everything, looking for food. This could easily cripple or kill them. And a mousetrap can be quite painful, even for a human who sets one off accidentally...try it and you'll see :-)
What-ever makes you think any small creature can not be hurt in "mouse traps"? And the trap would have to be "sprung" for you to hear the noise.
I don't understand. If mouse traps are made to kill small animals, why don't you think a different small animal can be hurt by them? Have you seen an animal caught in a trap alive?
I have chickens and have found that mice and rats love the chicken feed! I have to deal with them without killing my chickens, and other creatures that may go in my chicken yard so I dig a trench in the chicken yard and make a round out in the dirt, I then place a tray of decon rat killer in the trench and lay a big piece of plywood over the trench and round out where the decon is.
I know there are a lot of people that feel bad about killing rats and mice but it saves me about half of the cost of food for my chickens. When I have no rats and mice eating it all
