Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and beat together. Add sour cream. Mix and sift together flour and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture. Pat dough into a pan, approximately 8 inches square. Cut open plums; remove pits and split open. Place on dough, skin side uppermost. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over plums. Bake at 350 degrees F for approximately 1 hour until crust is nicely browned and plums are cooked through.

Thank you for posting this. This sounds like a recipe I made many years ago. I accidentally threw away the recipe. It was delicious and a great way to use up any extra plums.
Wow, there are more people like me out there. These were always my favorites growing up. I loved September, when the plums are at their best. My grammy would make these. I've made them a few times, and also the plum noodle casseroles(often). This recipe is cheating, but the taste is there.
FYI, canned plums work very well when you can't get the right ones.
