Use Bitter Apple Spray To Deter Cats

Two adult cats (2 and 13) own me and I also foster kittens from the Wisconsin Humane Society, so I am always aware of the problem. Two years ago, at Christmas, a kitten we had just adopted bit on an electrical cord from the Christmas tree. She was severely shocked and suddenly acted really listless.

We brought her to the vets at the Humane Society, who noticed since, she had burns around her mouth, she must have bitten on a cord (we found the bite marks later). Her lungs filled with fluid and she died a week later.

Since then, I use Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray, which you can buy online or at a pet supply store. Just spray it on the cord, or whatever else you don't want your cat to chew on. It is advertised as a taste deterrent for dogs, but you can certainly use it for cats too and it's not expensive. Good luck!
