I have seen a lot about mineral makeup. Have any of you tried it? It sounds great, but I would like to know other's experience before I buy some. It is quite pricey.

I use Bare Esscentials that I order from QVC. There are also Bare Esscentials stores in malls across the United States. I highly recommend their products. A little goes a long way, so I'm not paying more in the long run!
Yes, I've used mineral makeup and it's great! I have very light, sensitive skin with real red checks and it covered great. My sister uses it too and she loves it. Worth the money, if you ask me, because it takes such a little bit and last a long time.
I also use Bare Essentials and it is really worth the money! I only need a little bit of the product to get great coverage. My skin is really sensitive, but it's never caused a break-out.
I have been using it for years and love it. I used another brand and was not as happy. Just remember to wash the brushes since you use them alot.
Lots of companies are making it now and I love some of the brands. It's better for your skin and you dont get that make-up meltdown! It's natural so it looks natural and hides those imperfections.
I've tried Neutrogena and Physicians Formula brand.
BM made my pores look huge. My face had a shiny and rather unflattering sheen to it, as well. I've since tried Cory Cosmetics and Larenim, both ordered online. I think Larenim is the better mineral makeup for my skin. Unless you have no visible pores and perfect skin, BM will not work. I've heard that from lots of ladies. I want to try Phy. Formula--suggestions welcome, please. If you are older, as in 40+, I suggest you look for mineral makeup with well crushed mica or none at all; also, bismuth free makeup is good for older skin.
You can find great mineral makeup at a fraction of the price on Ebay! Just type "Bare Minerals" in the search line. Lots of companies offer their own versions and it is a lot more affordable. For instance, I have been getting mine off of ebay by a company called Smokey Mountain Minerals. An 11 piece set cost me under $20!! I gave the sets as gifts for both of my daughters and they love it. One note, make sure you get a shade darker than you think for the foundation, as it runs a little light. Hope this helps!!
I echo everyone's positive opinion of mineral makeup. A friend of mine who is an Esthetician recommends it, as well. I use Bare Esscentials and have had good luck. It does, indeed last a long time. Dittos on avoiding mica if you have older skin.
I never use liquid foundation, concealer, or bronzer... just the minerals. It has lessened breakouts, and you truly cannot tell you have it on. The look is more natural, compared to traditional cosmetics.
I just started using Bare Minerals and I love it! I am allergic to most foundations. Bare Minerals is great! The coverage is fantastic. It's looks so natural.
I have tried Bare Minerals and loved the feeling of it on my skin, but because of the color of my face it created a very orange color. My best friend uses it, though, and swears by it and it looks great on her. I would definately suggest going to your local Ulta or Sephora and have them show you how to apply it. That will also give you a chance to see how you like it before you buy it.
Bare Minerals...the BEST! I have sinus problems using other makeup, but none with BM. Also, the coverage is great without looking or feeling fake and cakey. The price is not high when compared to how long it lasts. I echo all the other positive feedback already listed.
I have been using Bare Minerals for over a month now and love it. Not only better for your skin, but you use so little that it will be very comparable to my regular priced discount makeup in the long run.
Physicians formula still has alot of titaniums and talcs. I looked at the website with their introductory offer, and I looked at their research. Shaklee (www.shaklee.com) has the EXACT same thing, at a lower price. And depending if you are a member, you can get money back....leave me a message with your e-mail on Thrify fun and I can give you more information. God Bless! They also have hair products, with the same natural ingredients and studies/testimonials.
I have to chime in here and say Bare Minerals is well worth the money. I am in my mid forties, and I love the coverage and the "bare" feeling. It also holds up well in humid weather. I used it when I traveled to Orlando last year and was very pleased with it. I buy mine at a Sephora store; you can also buy it at Sephora.com. Very good stuff! And the blusher is good too :) It does take a little getting used to applying, and you may want to try a couple of shades in a starter kit (available at QVC or Sephora) to find the best color for you. Write back and tell us if you try it and what you think.
I like the BE makeup, but could not justify the price of it.

I've recently been trying two different products, bare essentials (bare minerals) and sheer cover both are advertised on tv. i really liked the starter kit of sheer cover and i am liking the bare essentials, too. they both work well. i agree they both are a little pricey but after reading all the responses that made me realize i could probably buy them on the internet cheaper. thanks for the help! oh, the kabuki brush that bare essentials sells is REALLY good though whichever you decide to buy, i recommend getting one of those!
I just started using Bare Escentials five days ago and I love it! I am 48 and find that it looks best when I use a good moisturizer under it -- its very natural and feels very clean. I have gotten so that I can't stand the "dirty" feeling of most make up, and prior to using BE I had been using Erno Laszlo "Shake It" foundation which gives a clean look, but BE minerals is much more flattering.
I tried the Physicians Formula brand, but no matter how much I swirled - it appeared uneven on my skin. But I'm 60 and have these darn wrinkles that seemed accentuated with the minerals product. I hear there's a new minerals loose powder out by L'Oreal that's even easier to apply. (I already love L'Oreal's Ribbons shower lotion cleanser.) Has anyone used their minerals powder yet? I guess I could spring for the Bare Essential, but don't want to purchase something for that much $$ if I end up not liking the result. Thanks for any suggestions.
I like Smoky Mountian Minerals. their products are very good and very reasonably priced. I was skeptical of the powder make up to begin with, but now I cant live with out it! I would hate to wear liquid foundation again!
I just purchused Bare Minerals. First I bought the kit, but found that all I needed was the foundation, so I returned it and got my $60 back and just bought the foundation of Bare Minerals from Ulta for $25. Then I went to Target and bought the foundation brush for $3.00 and foundation brush for $2.00 and works just as well as the pricey BE ones. I love the coverage the BE gives and its also very light. My complexion has never looked better. I do need to mosturize more heavily at night, as it tends to get dryer in the winter and the minerals sometimes sucks moisture out, but overall I love it. If you just want simple coverage, buy the Bare Minerals foundation for $25 at Ulta, and get cheap brushes. It goes a long way and makes you feel great.
I Rodeo and own a Quarter Horse ranch in the south where it's humid and oh so hot, and I SWEAR by Bare Escentuals. It stays gorgeous w/out reapplication even at the end of the evening. However, it's come to my attention that there are those who MAKE their own at a virtual fraction of the cost! Here's the problem: I can't locate any recipes. It's driving me crazy -- Nothing online, or in bookstores! If anyone has any ideas, please please let me know because the cost of this wonderful makeup has become absolutely prohibitive for me.
Thumper~
I use L'Oreal's mineral make-up and I love it. $12.99 at my Target. It stays on well and covers my hyperpigmentation better than anything else I've tried. It also comes with it's own brush and is portable.
I, too, LOVE Smoky Mountain Minerals. They are very affordable and have excellent coverage. Karen is very helpful with what to order. They have great natural skincare, too. I have very sensitive skin so I have to be very careful of the products I use. I found out that Bare escentuals uses parabens which are known carcenigens. Smoky Mountain Minerals doesn't have any bismuth oxychloride or parabens! I luv the stuff!
Great products for young persons make more mature women look like Cinderella with hepatitis. I.D. products are sold at Ulta, but are broad-marketed to the younger set. Really natural looking products that have been wonderful for my skin so far. Has helped with my Rosacea already. I wear it to bed in my problem areas. But if you are more mature, I would recommend Raesin Images Makeup line. Excellent range of colors and products for different skin types.
I just ordered Smoky Mountain Minerals from their website. Has anyone tried it? I'm trying mineral make-up for the first time. It sounds awesome though. SMM is really cheap for mineral make-up. Is it too good to be true? If it is oh well. I'll try something else. Bye!
Whatever you do, don't try Raesin mineral makeup. Terrible colors, packaging, and chalky & itchy product. All products contain aluminum as well.
I use Maybeline Mineral Power make up and love it! It's not costly and covers well.....and stays put. Try it!

You are going to LOVE Smoky Mountain Minerals! Great coverage! Stays on! Very affordable!
Hi I use this makeup all the time now and I love it. The only gripe I have are the small amounts that you receive for the price especially the eye makeup. I felt a little ripped off in that area. Overall I would recommend this product. I will most likely buy eye shadow some where else from now on.
