Remove dark stains on an aluminum pot by boiling a mixture of 1 cup white distilled vinegar and 1 cup hot water.

Use lemon juice (I use bottled) to clean the aluminum inside of the heating base of your slow cooker. A little goes a long way. Dab it on a cloth and rub the stains. I have had even old "stubborn" stains come off.
