I am about to have gallbladder surgery and have heard and read on line that after surgery one will gain a lot of weight? Is this true? Does anyone have personal experience in this area?

No I have not heard that but I heard after a Hysterectomy you would. I have had to watch my weight since I had mine but most people have to after age 30, good luck.
I actually lost weight. Had surgery in '99. They tryed to do the easy way but instead I woke up with a 4inch scar on my belly. I had staples too. I was 39 yrs old newly single so maybe that was my "freudian" weight lost program.
My stepmom had gallbladder surgery in her late 20's or early 30's and she didn't gain a single pound but she ate the foods her doctor recommended and walked a lot.
I have a neighbor who had it done a little over two months ago so I'll ask her experience and if she has gained weight I'll let you know :-)
I had my gall bladder removed in my 40s and never had a problem with weight gain afterwords.
I had mine out last year and didn't gain any. In fact, I've lost a couple of pounds. Of course I hadn't heard about the weight gain rumor or I might have gained some. (grinz)
