Making New Greeting Cards Out of Old

For those who are into crafting, this can be a fun money saving thing to do to recycle those cute and pretty card fronts.

Supplies:

  • old greeting cards
  • heat laminating machine, letter size unit*
  • paper cutter (for straight edges)
  • Exacto knife
  • metal ruler (to trim close to laminate)
  • white glue

  • heavy card stock or prefolded half-fold greeting cards
  • computer with a graphics program (i.e. Print Master)

* Tip: you can laminate several fronts and trim the sheet.

Directions:

Carefully cut the front off of the greeting card. Laminate it and trim away excess laminate plastic. Using a computer print a verse or saying on the inside of the blank card. Use your imagination. It gives a semi-professional look to your card! Then glue the laminated card front onto your new card.

I had searched everywhere for just the right templates for a birth announcement. Finally I remembered an old "thank you" card I had kept. With a little cutting and pasting, I now have exactly what I wanted. Don't throw away those old card fronts, they may come in handy some day.
