Computers 101: Computer Safety and AntiVirus Programs
Do get an antivirus program. There are several online that are free. Many antivirus programs on the internet that are supposedly free carry harmful viruses, spam, or malware.
You can safely put these on your computer.

When looking up answers to a question on the internet, it is easy to pick up a virus if you pick the wrong link to open up. You just type in your question in the search bar, and then hit enter. Open only those sites you trust.This keeps you from getting malware.
There will be a lot of mail that comes to you and you won't know who it is from. This is spam and could carry malware or viruses. Get into the habit of not opening up mail when you don't know who it is from. Then report it as spam or delete it.

I have both and they have saved me two different times. I also do scans, disc clean and a defrag. each Friday.
Thanks for the good info... My ATT internet has free McAfee but I get a lot of "invites and offers" in my email. I set it up so that I only get mail from my contacts in my inbox.
