This is Bo Buddy. He is a rescue but I think he is over 10 years old. He is a Basset hound from his moan to his howl. I agreed to foster him 2 years ago for a rescue group. He was very ragged and underweight and unpredictable, just covered with horrible large scars. After a few weeks it was decided that he was unadoptable because of his age, health and temperament issues.
Regardless of his issues, we fell for him. We are retired, have 2 other older dogs and he just fit in. We were not able to adopt him because we have a very limited income, but the rescue group graciously let him stay with us til' his end. I was so moved. He gained 30 lbs. and became very tractable to us, and got along very well with our other animals. He really likes chicken. They walk around with each other all the time.
He loves to go for runs with his fellow dogs and scare the cat. I ride in a golf cart and the 3 dogs will either ride with me or walk along side. One of the cats (Einstein) will wait until he is sleeping then jump over his head, scaring him. He jumps up barking at the cat who runs for cover. He never chases the cat, just barks at him and pretends to start to run after him.
Although he is not cuddly, he has come so far. He gently places his head on my lap and I can see love in his eyes. The look of sadness is gradually fading away and he has learned to trust people a little more each day.

Your dog is gorgeous. I am so touched by the beautiful story. I am sure you are deeply satisfied by your kind act in adopting an old dog. Money cannot buy this kind of feeling. The love in your dogs eyes surely pays you back 100 times what you have invested in him. Enjoy and God bless you. Sh
Great story and great pic of Bo Buddy! God works in so many mysterious ways. He needed a home and you gave him one & love. One thing all people and animals need!
Bless your heart and bless the shelter's heart!
Bo Buddy looks so sweet! His story is sad and it is wonderful that he has you to take care of him. I hope you have a long and happy time together!
God Bless You for taking in Bo. Did you know that Bassets are one of the most abused dog breeds in this country? I think people get them thinking that they will be easy to handle. They are stubborn to the core and it takes a lot of patience and love to deal with one.
Just read about "Bo Buddy" and moved by your story, Any animal I have has been one that has come from a shelter or not wanted, I wouldn't have it any other way. I have 2 dogs a 12 year old mixed breed and a 1 year old shitzu cross, a cat from the local animal shelter which by the way was aquired in the same manner. and an anole which found its way to me by coming home with my mother in law on a plant unbenounced to her. You have a huge heart and as an avid animal lover appreciate hearing your story. You are very lucky to have Bo in your life. He sure looks happy!
Sadly, Bo Buddy left us one November. His pain was to much to allow him to suffer.
He died in our arms and wagged his tail. One month later we took in 2 more older Bassets that fill our house with love. One girl that is blind and very handicapped, another that is too beautiful to believe.
