Does anyone know of a place that sharpens hand held can openers?

I do know that you can sharpen scissors by cutting sand paper. Perhaps the same would help for a can opener.
The cost of having it done would probably be more than the cost of a new one.
I am fairly certain that having it sharpened will cost as much if not more than simply purchasing a new one. Be sure to recycle the old one or give it to the Goodwill or Salvation Army because someone out there would be happy to have it even if it's not sharp.
If it were only so easy to buy a good new can opener! I have an old Swing-a-way (ca 20 yrs old) and tried to replce it. After two new ones failed me, I am going to try and sharpen my oldie-but-goodie. All the new ones are probably cheaply made overseas..
EZ Duz It is an American made can opener that is wonderful! I bought one 8 years ago and it's still going strong and I use mine allot. Its hard to find a good one at a decent price. I believe they are $10.
This place sells rebuild kits for the old Swing-a-Way manual can openers (the made in USA ones)

pamphyila is right. You can sharpen can openers very easily by running sand paper through them. Get a good coarse grade and run it through the can opener several times and it will come out like new. I do this with my can openers (hand held and electric), scissors and even my hole punches!
Also Deeli is definitely right. Getting them sharpened would cost much more than buying a new one. Whereas you can buy a package of sandpaper for a couple of dollars and they will last you for years, and have many many uses.
