I love maple, but this is different for a change.
Combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, and spices in a saucepan and mix well. Add juice and stir over moderate heat until the syrup boils and is slightly thickened. Cool slightly before serving.

What do you serve this own? I would hate to make a batch of this and no one eats it. My grandkids hate the smell of vinegar! So will it have the vinegar taste and smell? I normally give them a teaspoon of vinegar to keep them from getting strep throat, so they know the taste and smell.
Thanks so much for posting this! I used to make this all the time. In one of my many moves, I lost the recipe. I don't think my daughter even remembers eating this on her pancakes or french toast or on a baked apple.
There is no vinegar in the recipe its good on pancakes and waffles and french toast. I too was looking for this recipe Thank you for posting it.
Can I preserve this, maybe can it in pretty jars for xmas gifts?
