I prefer to buy inexpensive costume jewelry, rather than spend tons on the real thing. To prevent costume jewelry from tarnishing, seal it with clear fingernail polish. Spend less and wear it almost as long!

Sealing new costume jewelry is okay but never use nail polish or any sealer on vintage costume jewelry. It is one way to ruin the finish as well as the stones. Jewelry especially with open backed or azured mountings, need to breathe.
