Scraps of wallpaper make great book covers.
Ive made lots and lots of placemats by laminating them, front and back for sturdiness. ( You also put all kinds of things on top before you laminate, but have to use a hot glue gun on them. ) I think mine was about $18 from the office store. You do have to pay extra for more pages, but it isnt a lot, and worth it if youre having fun : ) They roll up in a picnic basket, and take up almost no room.
And matting for pictures ... If you do this just right they come out very elegant
I have a store in NYState that periodically has double rolls of nice wallpaper for 1.00 ea. I have bought some to redo my rooms, but some were so pretty that I couldn't resist. I cover old shoeboxes with it to make what I store in my closets, etc. pretty, and I also use some as wrapping paper for gifts. It's nice and wide, and obviously, plenty long, and can wrap just about anything. It's heavier than wrapping paper and holds up better, too. And the price is sure right!
