Hi! Although I have cats, here are some ideas I learned from watching "It's Me Or The Dog" with trainer Victoria Stilwell. Immediately when the dog begins jumping on her, she crosses her arms and turns around until she senses the dog has stopped or someone tells her so. She explains she is being boring and uninviting from the dog's perspective. She rewards the dog with praise or treats when he is sitting or standing quietly. When she is sitting on the couch and the dog jumps on her, she immediately gets up and does the same thing. Eventually the dog understands he will get attention when he is quiet and not by jumping on her.
Another training example is walking a dog that likes to lunge ahead or bark too much at other dogs. As they're walking along, as soon as the dog lunges or barks, she immediately turns in the other direction walks several feet, and turns back. She'll repeat this until the dog walks calmly by her side. This way the dog is not allowed to go where he wants until he behaves. She's great!
