Growing in the shadowy edges of Shore Acres State Park on the Oregon Coast, these blossoms always take my breath away. The vibrant yellow with the perfectly placed red spots are always great eye candy.

I lived in Coos Bay for a lot of years, and hope to retire there. I never get tired of going to the park and the Botanical Gardens there. Beaches come in many styles, but flat and boring is well...boring.

I have those in my yard. They're called "Mexican Shell Flowers" but don't know the scientific name.
