Cut the soles into smaller pieces with a knife or scissors and then cut designs in them to make rubber stamps. use an Exacto-knife or small kitchen knife. Another idea: cut the soles into small pieces and make a hole thru each of the with a hot nail and use as beads for small children to string.

I've seen them cut into short strips and made into a door mat, similar to the ones that are made from tires.
