Cabbage will keep crisp and fresh all winter if you leave the outer leaves on a number of good heads and put them into a large wooden box. Then bury the box in the garden under protective boards, a layer of straw, and, finally, dirt.

Even in up to -40 degrees? Wind chill has no effect on inanimate objects, but this is a food, so how about -60 wind chills? Hope they don't bless us this year but don't have options when they arrive!
