How do you make a self contained sink if there is no running water available?

When I was a kid back in the 40s-early 50s, growing up on a farm without running water or any type of indoor plumbing, we had a sink in the kitchen. But we also used a metal washbasin in it to hold the water, then underneath where the drain was we had a five gallon "slop" bucket, that we let the water run into.
This bucket had to be taken outside and emptied at least once a day. For doing dishes we had a "dishpan" that we sat on one corner of the kitchen table and filled with warm water to wash the dishes in.
Hope this helps you out. I don't know if they make anything like metal pans that are sized right for washing up or doing dishes. All I have seen in the stores I go to are plastic ones.
There are several videos on you tube on how to make a portable self contained sink. Here is a link to one of them: www.youtube.com/
Her is a video from youtube that shows a very simple camwww.youtube.com/
