Buttermilk Puffs

Ingredients

• 2 cups flour
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1 tsp. mace
• 1 tsp. salt
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. nutmeg
• 3/4 cup buttermilk (can use regular milk with 1 Tbsp. vinegar)

• 1/4 cup oil
• 1 egg

Directions

Sift all dry ingredients together. Stir in buttermilk, oil, and egg; beat until smooth. Drop by teaspoon into hot oil until brown (they will turn over on their own). Remove from oil. while warm, roll in sugar and cinnamon mixture. Much like a donut.
