Often when I print out items from the internet, like free knitting patterns, and so on, I end up with pages of almost empty printed pages. I gotten into the habit of saving them to use when I happen to run out of paper. You see, if I feed them into my printer with the printed side UP (you will have to check your own printer), I can them print on the opposite side. When I put together my stash of paper to re-use, I realized that I had quite a bit of paper there! It's a good practice to get into.

I agree with that. I have been doing it for years, and actually learned to do it in an office that I worked at. We used that paper in our fax machine.
I, too, have been doing this for years. When I first retired in 2004, I printed 1000s of recipes from the internet. I organized them into 3-ring binders so I could find them, but never tried most.
A few years ago, I decided to downsize all those recipes. I pulled a stack of paper over a foot high. I used it in my printer whenever I didn't need a clean sheet for an important item. It took me quite some time to use it all. But it felt so good, to be saving all those reams of paper and recycling too.
One lesson I learned in this process, is to be sure you mark the side you don't want. I printed new recipes on the backs of old recipes. Then I didn't know which one I really wanted. Now, I put a big X in the middle of the unwanted side.
Another thing I used to do because I thought it just a wast to throw away so much paper was to save it up. When I got enough, I would either staple it in opposite corners, or across the side, about every 4 inches then I'd cut my little bundles of goodness. (I must admit, sometimes I would get a little too ambitious and have too many pages for my being able to cut so many. I would then call my son over to cut the pages apart for me.)
This would give me many, many nice stacks of scratch paper, already attached to each other, and ready to go! I also re-run my printed pages back through the copier when I have too many stacks of scratchpads, but my scratch paper pads are my first priorities!! (gosh, I love scratch paper pads. I must have 20 in my desk right now. All different sizes, shapes, and colors!)
Print only the pages required that you want. See pages in print preview.
