I like mountain music,
good ole mountain music,
played by a real hillbilly band.
Give me rural rhythem,
let me sway right with them,
I think their melody is grand.
lol--that's all I remember
(fiddle and banjo intro of turkey in the straw)
I like mountain music
good ol mountain music
played by a real hillbillie band
Jimmy rules the rythem
let me sway right with em'
I think the melody is grand
I heard hawaiian played
from the land of wicky wacky
I must say you can't beat turkey
in the straw by crackey
I like mountain music
good ol mountain music
played by a real hillbillie band
(instrumental banjo guitar mandolin fiddle round house)
I like mountain music
good ol mountain music
played by a real hillbillie band
Jimmy rules the rythem
let me sway right with em'
I think the melody is grand
I heard hawaiian played
from the land of wicky wacky
I must say you can't beat turkey
in the straw by crackey
I like mountain music
good ol mountain music
played by a real hillbillie band
(banjo and fiddle finish with turkey in the straw and
shave and a haircut two bits)
(Jimmy Rules is a refrance to Jimmy Martin
and his bluegrass band)
Wow, this is great. But I still have one more question. Who sings the darn thing?
You got to love google! Here are some pages that I found about "I Like Mountain Music". The first is a list of the different people who have released that song. None of them look old enough to be the original.

However, there appears to be a short or cartoon with the same name which probably has the original song on it. At lease the date is right.

I'm not positive, but I think the line "Jimmy rules the rhythm" is wrong. I think the true line is: "Gimme rural rhythm".
I recall the intro to the song:
When the sun goes down and the chores are through
There ain't nothin better that I like to do
Than to sit around the house when the folks ain't home
And listen to the music on the gramaphone.
I like mountain music good ol mountain music
Played by a real hillbilly band.
etc etc etc
The old 78 recording I have of the tune was played and sung by "The Hoosier Hotshots", sometime back in the 1930s.
