Most likely the blade you have to made to cut wood and not metal. The blade will dull down very quickly if you try to cut metal. Band saws with the right blade will cut metal. I used to work in a machine shop many years a go and we cut metal with band saws quite often. The blades were supplied by the machine shop so I don't know what kind they were. The band saws were made by DO ALl or that is what we called them

If you can slow the blade speed and buy a blade with a 32 TPI, you probably would be able to cut most metals. the thicker the metal, the more critical the speed of the blade would need to be.
