Now place part 1 on stove and bring to a boil, and drop the dumpling batter, a spoonful at a time, into the boiling mixture. Cover with lid and cook for about 15-20 minutes. Can be served with cream, ice cream, or whipped cream. Can be changed by using other berries. This is a very old recipe!

This is very close the the way my grandmother made berry pie - thank you, I'm making it today.
My Mom would make this from memory, so she could never tell me(I'm not a "dab of this & a pinch of that") how to measure the ingretients. This was one of my favorite summertime memories. Thank you.
Im 41yrs old and my grandmother made me Blackberry Dumplings every summer that i visited at her house.I have asked around from time to time about anyone knowing how to make Dumplings not Cobbler and up till now everyone ive talked to about this never heard of them before or no didnt know how to make anything but the cobbler.I was shocked when i came across this recipe But i just wanted to point out that my grandmother did exactly as this recipes says except Part 2 My grandmother used can biscuits and she would pinch the biscuits off and drop into Part 1 I am so happy i came across this I miss her so much she just recently passed away in December I hope everyone that trys this will also enjoy Thank you
