I have a warning about treadmills for any of you with small children or grandchildren. A friend of mine was telling me yesterday how her 4 year old grandson grabbed a treadmill while it was running and it removed the muscles and tendons on both hands. He didn't lose his fingers, but he will no longer have palms and is undergoing many surgeries.

I'm so sorry about the poor kid's serious injury! His hands, oh no!
Thank you for posting this warning! I still have nightmares about the day a man brought his small grandson over to our house (which is not childproofed because we don't have children visiting normally) without telling us in advance that he was bringing the child. The little boy got out of our sight for just MOMENTS while I was pouring coffee. I glanced into another room over the top of the counter and saw the top of his head and his fingers reaching up toward the treadmill switch. ONE moment more and the treadmill would have thrown him backwards into a steel cabinet. My scream just barely stopped him in time. After that, I tell everyone to unplug their exercise equipment if children are in the house and watch them carefully, because it only takes a moment for something awful like this to happen.
My 15 yr. old son thought that a treadmill was a toy, he started the belt moving to different speeds and jumped on to see if he could do it , wellllllllllllll he then set it to 9 mph which doesn't sound fast but when he jumped on he lasted maybe 2 seconds then it threw him off it ripped the skin off an arm and left him with skin also ripped off his face...... needless to say he won't be doing that again!!!
