Preheat oven to 350 F.
Beat eggs until light. Gradually add sugar; beat until thick and lemon-colored.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold into egg mixture. Add almond extract, nuts, and apple; fold in gently. Pour into 8x8 inch baking pan. Bake 25 minutes.

I have no idea what I did wrong with this recipe but what a mess I made. I doubled the recipe in an effort to make enough to serve the torte along with our New Year's Eve appetizers. However... instead, I ended up with a house full of smoke, a huge mess on the bottom of my oven, and a dessert that I couldn't serve.
This torte boiled over so bad and all that was left was a gooey mess in the pan that wasn't even worth serving. What a shame and what a waste of ingredients.
*Should you try this recipe, place it on a cookie tray, watch it as it bakes, and I'm guessing that maybe even a lower oven temp with a longer timing might help so it's not left gooey. Good luck.
