We planned a trip to Elk County, PA this year. It was awesome to see the clusters of the doe with usually one bull elk. They seem to have no fear of us. They were casually grazing, then lying down, and occasionally there was a high-pitch call from a bull to be heard. The bull in the photo was standing about 60 feet from us!

It's really is wonderful to view live Elk no matter where they are, but it sure is nice to have them near by like we do. In Western North Carolina - Cataloochee National Park - we have Elk that are always available for a viewing. We try to go visit at least once or twice per year. The bugle is so beautiful to my ears.
