Is AAA Auto Club worth the $65 per year? I am looking for an auto club that will assist if my car won't start or breaks down as I have an older car. Just wondering is a AAA reliable and dependable before I spend my money.

Check with your insurance company or agent, you may find that they have a plan that will also get you a discount on your auto insurance too. Our insurance plan offers a AAA type package for $49.00 a year, gets us a discount on the insurance and covers both cars. You can call any tow co, if you have a problem, pay the tow, get a receipt, send in the receipt and you are sent a check promptly.
The company name is Travelers Motor Club
I have had great success with AAA - in California you can register a car with them & so avoid going to our Dept. of Motor Vehicles ofc. (with its long lines) - which makes it a bargain.
I have had very good results with AAA. Also if you are a member and going on a trip they will issue you American express checks , maps, and tour book guides. Thsy can also book travel trips and offer discounts on atttactions.
I've been a member for about 7 years. AAA delivers on their promise to you to be there when you have car trouble. However, they are only as good as the providers you use, and some of these are better and more prompt than others. Last year, I called them for a simple jump, and an hour passed with still no help in sight, even though I was in downtown Dallas within 2 miles of the shop that was supposed to be sending someone. I don't know what time they would have arrived; I canceled them because my husband left work early to come and jump me off himself.
Before this, I'd called them 3 or 4 times over the years, and they had always been very dependable and fast.
Keep in mind the many discounts members get with a wide range of retailers, hotels, etc. You can easily recoup the cost of membership by using one or more of the discounts. So, basically for free, you have an emergency service; it just might be really slow sometimes.
Before joining, you might want to check and see what emergency services your auto insurance company offers. The caveat there is that if you use their service, even for something simple, the insurance company might raise your premium. (This happened to my mother-in-law.)
Yes, We have had AAA for over 15 years. We use their service for all kinds of things ie: plan trips, get maps. One of the best things is that you can register your vehicles with them instead of going to the DMV.
I have been a member for 20 + years. Would not change.
AAA is very good in my area (Gainesville, Ocala, Florida) but may take a little while sometime. Be sure to find out if you are limited to a certain number of "calls" before you have to start paying for the service.
The good thing is their service is available for any auto that you are traveling in. They do not care whose car it is, as long as you are there when the tow truck arrives. Also, check the distance they will tow your auto. I use the Plus and it will cover up to 100 miles. This info applies to any towing service - always ask.
I have used AAA for many years, and I can give them a A+ rating. They come when you need them. They wait isn't usually long at all unless there is a weather issue. My whole family belongs.
In Canada it is CAA, and it is certainly worth the money. Consider it an insurance plan, but they also do give lots of help with trip planning and maps, and there is often discounts with hotels.
I have AAA and have had to use it 2 times to toll my car home. I have the package lower than onesummer does and all it cost to have it tolled was $3.00. The guy told me it would have cost me $65.00 if I had not had AAA.
Most definitely! it is worth the price of membership. Whenever I have needed the help of AAA, they have been my Knights in Shining Armor. I have always found them to have kind and courteous employees.
Check with the insurance group where your car is covered.
We were able to use the coverage in our auto policy for the same coverage we had been subscribed to AAA. We did not realize we had duplicated coverage by subscribing. Who knew to check ?? Perhaps your policy has this too.
Our auto insurance also had coverage for our motor home (RV) as well. The AAA coverage wasn''t extended for towing motor homes.
I would check with your insurance carrier. Often their towing coverage is as little as $4 a year. Problem is, AAA or the insurance carrier will drop this coverage if you use it too much, so don't count on it as an alternative to taking care of your car. Still, I think it's more important for an older car.
I've had AAA for years, keep it out of fear more than anything. Only real advantage is one number to call. With the insurance company coverage I had, you find the tow truck and pay them, then submit the bill and get reimbursed.
If you don't travel a lot, don't go too far from home, and are willing to find the towing service, AAA is NOT a good buy. If you do travel a lot and will use the discounts (almost all are the same as AARP) then it might be.
I've been an AAA member since 1943. I wouldn't be without them. When my battery died, they sent a battery truck out to replace it on the spot. I've used them for discount movie tickets, passport photos, and even travel agency services for a trip to Australia. I find them absolutely reliable and recomend them highly.
Just be sure to get the AAAplus. It gives you more mileage for towing. Don't forget to use it for discounts at attractions/shopping.
I am AAA Plus. I would never be without it. If you break down on a road at night, they will stay with on the phone until they are sure you are safe. They are an incredible service.
Do you have a cell phone? If so see if they offer a road side assistance program. My husband & I have AT&T, and they have a program for $2.99 a month, and you pay it when you pay your phone bill. We also have one with our auto insurance, and that covers just our vehicle. With the program we have w/ our phone, it covers any car as long as one of us is in the car at the time.
I would check elsewhere. I get mine through AARP and I just paid it the other day, for a year, cost $37.
I recommend AAA very highly. Isn't $65 for AAA+ coverage? It seems regular yearly coverage would be around $45, but I could be mistaken. They come when you call them, they will tow your car, start your car, etc., and they come usually within 1/2 hour or less unless there is an excess of calls, such as severe weather, etc. You just pay your yearly dues, and other members of your family can join at much reduced rate with same benefits. Everyone in my family belongs to AAA and I wouldn't feel secure driving without it. There is not a limit to how many times you can use them that I know of, except only one call per day.
I have AAA membership, and insurance. They were the cheapest with car insurance, but I wouldn't recommend the Auto Care Centers. I had a horrible experience there and will never return.
