Measuring Out Morning Cereal

For my weight control, I have found a way for me to help share with you. I buy two or three boxes of cereal at a time. Sometimes I get up too late to cook breakfast.

I got the idea of measuring out cereal in the same size serving as on the boxes. It's a guideline all should follow, I pour cereal, of one kind in a large bowl. Whatever size cup is on the box is what I measure out. I use zippered snack and sandwich bags. I put each kind of cereal back into the box it came in. Sure saves me a lot of time, it's ready to eat in a hurry. This is great for small children to be able to get their own cereal.

I've lost weight since I'm going by serving sizes and I don't have to count calories. I also do my cookies and crackers the very same way. I'm 63 and still learning ways to stay fairly slim. Even though this takes some time to measure things out, it's enjoyable to know you are helping yourself to lose weight.

Good idea to put it back in the box. Plus, I bet you reuse the bags as a TF gal!
Thank you!

I also use the 1-cup plastic containers from cream cheese or margarine. Great to grab and go for those mornings when I'm just not quite quick enough out of bed to get breakfast at home.

This is an excellent tip and can be used for a lot of food. My diabetes makes portion control every important. I have these to share with you, too.

Have a deli slice your cheese that you buy in a brick. It's free and saves you about 20% on your pre-sliced purchase. Then take them home and zip lock one or two in each. Easy to grab for a lunch.

Do the same with your veggies. I pre-cut mine so I can literally make a salad without getting out a knife! Snack size zip lock baggies are wonderful for nuts, seeds, etc that you might like to add to the salad.

I cook all my meat in one day after I get food home. I then portion it out as well, and can nuke it in less than the time it takes me to scoop up that salad and I have a meal in under 5 minutes.

I have cream of wheat every other morning, so I put the 3 Tbsp. for each serving into the little plastic containers you get when you get dips from the store. They have lids and can be cleaned and used time and time again.

The same ones (which you can buy at the local cash and carry), are also great for instant coffee, trail mix, or things that are small and fit well "tossed" into a zip lock bag.

All good tips to keep things fresh, organized and portion controlled.
Hope this helps. PBP
