You could take the bill to a coin shop or call one on the phone and have them appraise the value.It most likely has silver certicate printed on the front side of the bill.You could also put it up for bid on e bay.
Here's a Wikipedia entry about $5 bills. I agree to go to a coin shop. The condition of the bill may matter but I imagine it is worth much more than $5.
