It looks like a good list to me. What type of treats are you trying to feed your dog that are on here?

The page isn't available now. I know what dogs shouldn't eat & it should have a minimal effect on every day life. What treats are you talking about? They can eat several fruits & vegetables, lean meats, pb, cheese & I feed mine natural popcorn & Old Mother Hubbard's natural dog cookies. I never run out of things to give them.

I own two Chis myself and have owned Chows, Rottweilers, Poodles and Pit Bulls in the past. I just wanted to share some info I found about feeding dogs in general. The website is:

The most important part is as follows:
Proper diet---What you feed your dog is an important factor in whether hell develop arthritis. Be sure your dogs getting high quality dog food with no added preservatives, food colorings, wheat, corn, or soy products. Its best to have him on low fat dog food, as well as low carbohydrates. The grains, which compose a large part of dry (really any) dog food, tend to increase inflammation, aggravating arthritis. If you want to be extremely safe, prepare his meals at home with cooked meats and vegetables.

Keep him trim---How much you feed your dog is just as important as what you feed him. As excess weight can result in added stress on his joints, you want to monitor the amount of treats you give him, if you give them at all. The more overweight your dog is, the more pain hell suffer from aging joints. When your dog is just a puppy be careful that his diet wont lead to rapid weight gain.

Exercise----Also, make sure he gets plenty of exercise, both off the leash and with regular walks. If you notice he has trouble walking, then dont pressure him to run more than he should. Instead, investigate for arthritic problems.

My 5 1/2 yr old female was 2lbs overweight, had smelly itchy skin and had pain in her legs. The vet dxd her with arthritis and yeast overgrowth and put her on pain meds and expensive shampoo. I switched both to Blue Buffalo weight control dry dog food and Newman's Own healthy dog snacks. I divided up the amount recommended into 3 and give two meals and the rest for snackies. I give them Vida glucosamine/chondritin snacks once a day for their joint health. I also added fish oil and flax seed oil. I feed them peeled baby carrots, apples, celery, lettuce and mostly whatever low sugar fruit or vegetable they will eat. I soaked them with a little apple cider vinegar mixed with warm water for 15 min and then rinsed it off with warm water for the yeast skin infection. She doesn't limp anymore or cry out and I don't have to give her pain meds anymore.

Her coat and eyes are shiny and beautiful and she is more active than ever after losing 1 1/2 lbs.

Food made with corn, soy or wheat and/or their byproducts cannot be digested by most dogs and can lead to diabetes, cataracts and bad skin problems. The God-forsaken dog food manufacturers are in denial because the food is cheaper to produce. The meat byproducts can be chicken beaks, feet and feathers, cow organs (which can contain carcinogenic matter) and hide/hair, generally stuff a normal dog wouldn't eat unless he was starving. They put corn syrup in the dog food and snacks to make the dogs addicted. Some foods are sprayed with leftover trans fatty grease from fast food restaurants in order for the dog to like the food.

Remember any extra weight will give your dogs a much higher incidence for cancer. My neighbor's dog was very overweight and I tried to tell him but he couldn't see it. He dotes on his dog to the extreme but didn't realize he was risking her life. She had a lemon size tumor in her stomach last year. Now he feeds her Eagle brand holistic diet dog food.

I dont feed my dogs canned food because of Bisphenol A (abbreviated BPA). This chemical is in the plastic lining in most canned foods and in many plastic bottles including baby bottles and sippy cups and microwavable foods. It has been linked to breast cancer and early puberty in humans. In mice and rats fed very small amounts they developed diabetes, enlarged prostate and changes in their precancerous prostate cells just to name a few problems. Check out Wikipedias BPA webpage and you probably wont want to eat canned foods without checking to see if your brands still use BPA. Of course the chemical companies are in denial like BigTobacco years ago.

If you give your dogs chlorinated/fluoridated water to drink it can cause diabetes, heart disease and low thyroid disease just like it can in people. I give my dogs bottled spring water because the filters to get out the chlorine/fluoride are too expensive for me and the amount of drugs they recently discovered in tapwater that most filters cant get out justifies the expense. God Bless you and your dogs.
