Reviews of Cyber Defender?

My computer (7 yrs.old) is running slow. There's a cleanup vendor online called Cyber Defender. They scan your computer indicating the problems and then will sell you a disk or something to clean it up for around $40. Has anyone used them? If so, I'd like your feedback, pros and cons. Thanks.

Are you sure about this? I dont know if that will work or not. Do you have a virus protection on your computer? If so do a "quick scan" and then a "full scan". Or do you have like HP or Dell, you can send in your computer and have them fix it, if you got a yearly plan with them. I know I do for my HP we pay like 148 dollars each year, so if something happens to it we can send it in and they will fix it. Good luck!

My computer geek installed free programs on my computer. One is AdAware, one is Malware, the other one is AVG anti-virus. He said nobody needs the purchased ones, the AVG does a daily scan on it's own.

There are versions of these that can be purchased, but he said the purchased ones usually cause more problems than they are worth.

I agree with red. AVG takes care of viruses spyware adware, all kinds of trackers and such, Download it, it is Free and updated daily. Once you run a full scan see how much the AVG has found healed and deleted. No need to buy anything. Good Luck

Another free program that works really well is Ccleaner. It cleans left over junk on your computer from old programs. Avg works great for a virus protection as said before but Ccleaner is a good program to have also (CCleaner.com).

It seems to speed mine up when I run the cleaner and registry cleaner. Be sure to follow up with defragmentation also, it organizes & takes the holes out of your hard drive.

I use CCleaner, Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy. All three are free and are awesome at cleanup! If you're interested in any of them click my contact button to let me know and I'll send you the safest links for downloading them.

You didn't ask for other suggestions, but a 7-year-old computer can be expected to run slow even without any viruses or other problems. It's outdated and probably running a version of Windows that's only partially compatible with today's applications and Web sites. If you aren't able to replace it, your money would probably be better spent on installing additional RAM than on buying Cyber Defender.

The free apps others have suggested here will probably do the same thing as Cyber Defender, anyway. You could also try running a defrag on your hard drive. Good luck!

The first thing to do is defrag your computer, if you don't do this on a regular basis. If you don't know how to do this, post again, here, and someone will give you directions. It is very easy. I agree with the others - no need to buy anything, there are lots of free programs to help.

Yes, a computer that is 7 years old can run kind of slow, but that doesn't mean it's not any good. One of our computers is about 7 years old and it was running really slow. So last month I decided to download the Cyberdefender free trial to see what it could do to improve the speed. (I'd read a lot about the m online).

Well, it found some stuff, and so I decided to buy the full version. And heck, buying Cyberdefender ended up being much cheaper than buying a new computer.

This computer runs much faster now. yeah - its only used for surfing the net, but it's much faster.
Thanks to the cyberdefender package.

Thanks for all of your input and suggestions. I will try all of the "free stuff" indicated and see what happens.
