It's rich and moist.
Place the fruit mix, cherries, sugar, bicarbonate of soda, water, brandy and butter in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil for 20 minutes, remove and cool. Meanwhile grease well and double line a square or round baking pan.
When mixture is cooled, preheat oven to 300 degrees F. (150 degrees F.) In a basin sift dry ingredients, add the beaten eggs and mix well.
Pour batter into greased pan and bake for +- 3 hours or till done. Cover with marzipan or cherries and pecan nuts.
