Mix together yogurt, spices, garlic, and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Add chicken, turning to coat. Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring about 3 minutes or until lightly browned. Stir in tomato and bay leaves; cook 5 minutes. Add chicken and marinade mixture to pan and mix thoroughly. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, for about 20-30 minutes, or until chicken is done.

I made this and it was simply delicious, and I'm a vegetarian! But not that day. My husband went wild over it and said it smelled and tasted just like a well known, high end Indian restaurant in our city where the food is wonderful.
I changed:
1 tsp. cayenne to 1/4 tsp. - just enough bite!
4 cloves of garlic to 2 cloves
chicken thighs - it's what I had at home already
The chicken fell apart off the bone. What a recipe! I've already shared it with two neighbors. Thank you so much for this winner, or it should be a winner!
