White Walls With Colored Trim?

I hear of people using color on their walls but how about white walls with colored trim. What effects will it have on the rooms? Is this something not to do? Any color suggestions?

Maybe in a really specific place it might work, but there generally is a reason decorators don't do this. Each wall would look like a framed picture, and you'd have to carry the look into other rooms to give a proper flow to the living space. Unless properly carried out, this can be considered bad design. Painted woodwork can be carried out easier with papered walls. White walls would have too much contrast when framed by stark color.
