I finally realized emptying a box of baking soda into an empty washed out spice container sure keeps it easier to use when needed, and keeps it fresh a lot longer.
I also cut the baking soda label off the box, and just simply taped it on the front of the spice container. That way there's no wondering what it is.

I hate baking soda boxes as well so I use an old cocoa powder container instead. Simply wash and empty a box of baking soda into it....much easier to dip a spoon into that than a little whole in the baking soda box.
I use an empty baking powder can. It has the half lid under the plastic lid. It makes it easier to scoop your measuring spoon in and then scrap off the excess for a perfect level measure.
