To clean and lubricate the track for sliding doors or windows. First vacuum well, and spray with WD40. Remove grime with brush or cloth. Vacuum again if necessary.

I tried using WD40 to clean my sliding door tracks. Even wiped it up as good as I could afterwards. Sure it got them clean, but I started noticing little black paw prints all over my kitchen floor after that. Finally realized it was because the animals were stepping on the tracks and tracking dirty WD40 into the house!
do not put wd-40 in tracks. It does nothing but make sludge.Just keep the tracks clean. If your door slides badly check that is on the track, make sure tracks are level and paralel, and that the wheels are in good shape.I'm a winow cleaner I see a lot more than installers who put in new windows and never see them again
I've watched a video made by a sliding door company amd they say very strongly NOT TO USE any oil based lubricant such as WD40. Instead they recommend a dry lubricant Silicone or treflon IF you must use anything at all.
