I have 9 Rat Terriers and 3 of them have seizures. The youngest (2 years) is on phenobarbital since she had seizures all month long. The 4 year old has a seizure every 3 months, and the 3 year old has them every 4 months. Is this genetic since my 6 other dogs don't have the problem?

I have a cat with seizures. My Vet explained to me sometimes the mother has a virus that causes a kitten to have a brain lesion. So I think seizures can have many causes, genetic and non genetic. It is hard to tell which sometimes. I do know some breeds are prone to genetic seizures, so one has to be very sure before breeding.
