Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, butter, cheeses, garlic and onions; mix well. Slice the loaf of French bread in half horizontally and spread mayonnaise mixture on each half. Bake until golden, about 10 to 15 minutes. (After baking, I put the bread under the broiler for 1 to 2 minutes.)
